My Life Adventures

Making the decision

After Allan was laid off from his job in December of 2017 he started working on writing a book and building his personal training business.  The lay off was a blessing in disguise as Allan was able to take an early retirement however, I had to go back to work mainly for health insurance. I was ok working again however I still had a dream of early retirement as well.

On nights that we were home together we would watch a Netflix show called “Death in Paradise”, where the main character lives in a bungalow on the Caribbean Ocean, after a few episodes I told Allan that I could live like that…simple studio bungalow with the beach and beautiful blue waters right outside your door surrounded by a jungle.  The serenity of the thought made us both seriously think about selling everything that we worked hard to own and packing just a suit case and move to the Caribbean.

After a few seasons of the show we decided to do just that.  We started searching for places to move to or to explore.  I came home from work one day and Allan tells me to keep an open mind.  He showed me an island for sale in Bocas del Toro, Panama.  It was a 3 bedroom home on an acre of land surrounded by water fully furnished with many fruit trees for under $300k.  Allan told me of his trip to Bocas Del Toro, Panama he took with his daughter so we decided to go and check it out.

We took a trip to Bocas del Toro and to Ambergris Caye, Belize (where I had originally wanted to look at) and although Belize is very beautiful, we decided on Bocas Del Toro, Panama.  The weather is amazing, with Caribbean breezes, no hurricanes, beautiful beaches, and also the jungles that have sloth’s,  howler monkeys, parrots, and toucans.  Most importantly, the healthcare in Panama is really cheap and they have amazing doctors that were trained in the US.

We started selling things in the house in rounds (currently on round 3).  My last day of work was November 16, 2018 and since then I have been working on organizing and prepping the house to put it on the market.  We recently purchased our flights to Bocas for February 18, 2019.  We are both excited and a little nervous but we know we have each other and thats all that matters.

Our crazy new life adventures are about to begin and I am wanting to include you all on our new adventures so keep checking our blog and feel free to leave us any positive messages along the way.  The Adventure Begins soon!
