The Gurgle Pot

While going through items in our home trying to decide what to keep and what to get rid of I came across the gurgle pot. This fish shaped pitcher that our realtor gave us as a house warming gift when we bought this house.

I had it in the sale originally then pulled it out and sat it on the middle of our dining room table.

As I’m sitting here by myself and all in the house is quiet, I’m hearing the gurgle pot gurgle. How is this happening?

I stand up and walk over to it and it stops gurgling. I stood there for about a minute and it never gurgled. Went and sat back down in the chair and it gurgled again. I think I’m most certainly keeping this wacky pot and bringing it down to Panama with me!

Below is the story of the gurgle pot:

The designer, Matt Ellison, shares his inspiration:

“Years ago, I attended my brother’s wedding in a small village in Southern France. Since there were no hotels in town, all guests were matched with French hosts. My hosts spoke no English and I spoke no French which made dinner conversation a challenge. Long stretches of awkward silences were compounded by the fact that French dinners can last 3-4 hours. There was, however, one saving grace…a fish shaped water pitcher that “gurgled.” I found myself drinking more water than wine so I could fill the silent room with “gurgling” and  unite the table with smiles.”

Pour, Listen, Enjoy!
